Sydney is home to many great sports stadiums, each one playing host to popular sporting teams. Sydney has a large range of national teams originating from different sporting codes including Rugby League, Australian Football, Basketball, Soccer, Cricket, Rugby Union and Netball, just to name a few.

 

Visiting Sydney is one thing, but attending a sporting match at one of the stadiums below is truly an experience to take part in. Many of the Sydney Sporting Stadiums boast guided tours, where you have the chance to go behind the scenes and capture the sights of these venues from a different angle.

 ANZ Stadium

Sydney’s ANZ Stadium holds a special place in the hearts of sports fans in Australia and the world. There has been many exciting and unforgettable moments witnessed at this sporting venue including the Sydney 2000 Olympic Opening Ceremony, Cathy Freeman’s Olympic gold medal victory, Jonny Wilkinson’s famous drop goal to win the Rugby World Cup Final and ‘that tackle’ in the 2003 NRL Grand Final.

 Sydney Cricket Ground

Each year, sports fans from all over the world visit this iconic cricket ground. This ground caters for a whole range of different sporting teams including the Australian Cricket team, the Sydney Sixers Cricket team, the New South Wales Blues Cricket team and the Sydney Swans AFL team. Although this ground caters for mainly Cricket and Australian Rules Football, it was a major Rugby League Ground until the Sydney Football Stadium was built next door.

 Sydney Football Stadium (Allianz Stadium)

The Sydney Football Stadium (Currently known by it’s sponsorship name, Allianz Stadium) is Sydney’s premier rectangle shaped field. This stadium is currently the home ground to teams across all competitions including NRL, Super Rugby and A-League with the Sydney Roosters, NSW Waratahs and Sydney FC playing the majority of their matches here.

 Sydney Super Dome (Allphones Arena)

The Sydney Super Dome is currently known as the Allphones Arena and is the largest permanent indoor stadium in Australia. The Allphones Arena is currently home to two major national sporting teams the NBL’s Sydney Kings and Netball’s Sydney Swifts. This arena was used in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games for Gymnastics and Basketball events. The Allphones Arena has also been used for womens American Football games.

  Brookvale Oval

Brookvale Oval is one Rugby League’s most iconic sporting ground. It is home to NRL’s Manly Sea Eagles and boasts a great atmosphere when attending a rugby league match here. This oval is one of Rugby League’s last true stadium, it provides an atmosphere like no other and allows fans to get right up close and personal to the players. Hear the big hits, see every try and witness a Rugby League match like no other on the old Brookvale hill.

  Leichhardt Oval

Leichhardt Oval is a football stadium located just outside Sydney, currently one of the two home grounds for the West Tigers National Rugby League team. Due to the close proximity of the supporters to the playing area, spectators are up close and personal to all the action making the ground highly regarded as one of the best in Sydney and Australia.

  Skoda Stadium

Skoda Stadium is home to the latest team to come into the AFL competition, the Greater Western Sydney Giants. It has recently been upgraded with hospitality facilities, new and improved audio and sounds systems and new media facilities to accommodate the new team. The upgrade has improved the stadium in a big way and now provides a great atmosphere for fans and players alike.
