Experience part of Sydney’s history and see a match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Better known as the SCG, the ground is among the nation’s oldest and can trace its roots to 1854, when it was used as a recreation field by British soldiers stationed at Victoria Barracks.
The ground really took off in 1878 when it was officially opened as the home of cricket. Today it is Sydney’s premier ground for cricket and AFL and has a seating capacity of 47,000.
The ground hosts numerous first class cricket matches, from test matches to one day games. For something different, try the electric atmosphere of a 20-20 match.
